Can you provide some photos of the units that you have? Also, do you have a spare wiper switch? I want intermittent wipers too - and I'd like to incorporate it into the wiper switch itself (replace the present three position switch with a similar-sized four position switch). I'm not after variable d...

Ah - I understand now.

How are your car problems? Are you at a stage now where you no longer want your car to be towed away? ;)

In addition to where do you live, what are you studying? You'll probably find some people in need of your skills who may be happy to barter. They fix your car, you fix their whatever.

Steptoe, using a relay won't fix power surges. Did your last power surge happen when starting the car, or after the engine had been running for some time? What are you trying to power? Is the 12V to 5V adapter a cheapie? If you really want to fix future power surge problems, you need to provide some...

The F&P motors are 1.5kW or so. I don't know what torque they produce, and that's the all-important detail. That's in their standard form, running ceramic magnets, with about 150V DC input. With Neodymium magnets in the rotor they'd have a higher power output, but then the stator would probably disi...

Your best bet is to get a power supply which is over-voltage protected. It will cost more, but it is designed to ensure that you get 5V independently of the supply voltage.

Hi everyone, I'm looking at lifting my 1988 Brumby. I'd like to know people's opinions on the various lift kits available. The kits I have found on the web so far are: Scorpion - $795 [ http://www.scorpionsubaru.com/retail.htm]; Hi-Rise Subaru - $295 [ http://www.funonwheels.net/hirisesubaru/pages/p...

I spent last night reading this entire thread from start to finish. I am completely and utterly floored by your fantastic workmanship - the attention to detail, and use of 'old school' skills is art in itself. I can't wait to see what the finished car looks like, and I'm eager to scour through your ...

Hello everyone, I'm particularly interested in this project - it's something I'd like to do too. I have a few Fisher & Paykel Smartdrive washing machine motors floating around in my garage as the basis for a 4wd with an electric motor in each wheel. The motors are synchronous AC motors used as 3-pha...

Any chance of getting the diagram? Steptoe, I've tried to look at the circuit diagram for your model but end up with the following error when I try to access the 'Electrical Systems' link in the AUSubaru.com Technical Manual: Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 27262976) (tried to allocate 6530904 bytes) in /home/byb555/public_html...

I don't know exactly where you're up to at the moment - can you give us a summarised update, particularly with what you have replaced? Can you get the car to start and run? If not, have you tried pulling out all th...

Brumby Suspension Repairs

Hi, the suspension in my 1988 Brumby is getting on and needs some work. The shocks need replacing, and I'd say other bits need renewing as well. I want to raise the suspension as much as I can and still have it road-legal in ACT and NSW (is that 2 inches maximum?). I plan to lift the car and renew t...

Replacement Seats For Brumby

Hi, does anyone have any recommendations as to what seats fit well into the Brumbies/MY wagons? The seats in my 1988 Brumby are beyond hopeless, and I don't want to spend $400 per seat getting them retrimmed. I spoke to the Subaru mechanic in Mitchell (Canberra) who said that most seats will fit, bu...

Hello everyone, I've just managed to acquire a 1988 Brumby. My wife and I have a 2001 Forester, and previously I owned a 1996 Liberty Rallye wagon (that really was a great car to drive!) and prior to that, an old 1984 wagon which I committed horrendous acts of car abuse against, and it didn't compla...
