Moving up a few models
Hi All, I am thinking of upgrading from my Gen 2 liberty to a early 2000's model 3.0R in manual. I just wanted to know if anyone had any good information on these cars such as common problems and what to be weary of. THe cars I am looking at are all around the 100k mark so most will likely need a ma...

More progress on this now. I recently took the car to an auto-elec who ran it under an engine analyser. There were no fault codes and he mentioned that he was looking at the sensor output in real time and everything appeared "reasonable". It was misfiring on two cyclinders and upon taking the spark ...

Thanks guys, i did locate the knock sensor when looking around the engine bay (kinda difficult unless you know where to look, its quite well hidden). I did not know they were that cheap off ebay. I am skeptical of the quality of a $15 knock sensor off ebay, has anyone had any experience with them an...

Well, checked the spark plugs and they looked fine. Just replaced the fuel filter, made no difference at all. Tried another can of intake cleaner for good measure, no difference. I will try flushing the cooling system and refilling (i can hear it sloshing away after using the stop leak, maybe it has...

Typical fuel filter signs. Try changing out the cheap small things first, then step up to the bigger things. Fuel filter, spark plugs, leads etc etc. Sent from my HTC Velocity 4G using Tapatalk 2 Thanks Alex, I might give the fuel filter a go. I did replace the spark plugs about 15-20k ago. Will pu...

Thanks for the speedy reply guys. There is just under 150k on the clock and it was running fine until recently. Looking at the thread i am not entirely sure if thats what my problem is as this bloke has issues at idle where as in my case it idles fine and is fine for a minimal throttle input (say le...

Surging Diagnosis
Hi All, I am trying to diagnose a surging problem i am having with my gen2 liberty (EJ22 awd). The surging is quite pronounced when the engine is under load, in particular when more throttle is given (estimate it would be above 50%). It has bouts of hesitation/surging. I am thinking a few things and...

Thanks RSR555 I might just pick one up from the wreckers. How much do they usually go for? And what kind of success rate did you have? (i.e. did you need to purchase 3 of them before you got one that worked?) I have read on other forums of problems using aftermarket cam sensors so I am abit reluctan...

hrmmm i will look into that GTlegs although my error codes showed a log for the cam position sensor. I am thinking of cleaning it first and then if that doesnt work maybe replacing it. - The sensor looks like its just held in with 1 bolt, is it simply a case of unbolt it, clean with solvent then reb...

Although this problem went away for some time it seems to have returned (my car just randomly died at the lights while idling). I am assuming the sensor is on its way out. I am thinking of replacing the cam angle sensor and have noted that an "ACA" branded one from supercheap auto goes for around $1...

starting problems
Hi all, Recently i have been having quite afew problems starting my car. Battery is fine and car was running fine until now, with spark plug changed recently. Its strange as it always seems to be related to a sensor somehow. The past few times by simply disconnecting and reconnecting a sensor connec...
