ok. well smokey, all you need to know for now is the main thing that will help fuel economy is to drive on the primary but when it is warm especially with big tyres don't lug the engine. Change at 3.5k minimum and always downshift to fourth on highway hills (i'm guessing you did anyway or you would h...

Interesting replies, I have standard coil, ngk plugs, timing 8 deg ish. Overall I think the weber is heaps better than stock and I would expect that given there is more power than stock, fuel consumption is going to drop a bit. I'm happy enough to drive it more economically but I mainly wondered wha...

Most soob carbs and webers have two butterfly valves for metering air (mainly) The first one called primary and is smaller than the second one(secondary) and operates on most of your driving . ie stop start mild acceleration and highway cruising, basically up to about 2/3 throttle. After about 2/3 t...

Weber jetting (sorry) EA82 WARNING LONG POST
Hi to all, I have had my weber in for about 5000k's and am amazed at the difference in power and driveability. It came out of a 180 B and just happened to have the same jetting as smoovs that was jetted in sydney. primary main: 140 seconday main: 135 primary air: 160 secondary air: 165 primary idle:...

I tested it by using heater hose and the redline filter plastic connector. No smell at all but I'm not convinced its breathing well enough. The manuel (gregorys) says above moderate throttle the whole system reverses and puts blowby fumes into airbox or in my case engine bay and then my airways. Tha...

My redline airbox didn't have a very good connection for my crankase breathers (too small) , so I was trying a small pod filter on the drivers side breather and an even smaller one on the passenger side where the little white filter used to work. Theory is the drivers side sucks air in, it goes thro...

Warning to weber converts
Don't think a pod on the engine side breather will work without probs. Went for hard drive in hills today and nearly passed out from oil fumes. I thought it just sucked on that side but it seems not!

Any luck on those sealed bearings? Sounds like a great idea as I have to quite a few flooded creeks to get to my father in laws. Fronts easier than rear, woohoo, rear was no problem, I thought the front would be harder because of all the steering stuff. Thanks heaps guys I'll definately do it myself...

Front wheel bearing, costs??
Hi all, What would you expect to pay a mechanic to install front wheel bearings on one side? I have been quoted $300 + and it seems a bit steep.
Don't have jackstands, breaker bar, 36 mill socket , hole punch, brass drift but waying up cost of purchase vs mechanic?

thats what I first thought but... Pros Easy replacement of belts, water/oil pump, idler/tensioners, oil and water don't get trapped in there Cons Idlers could get more water in there, belt could jump off(who cares on ea82 as non-interference anyway!), sand could really cause all sorts off havock, bi...

running without covers
Looking on USMB I noticed they mostly run without timing covers. Anyone here doing that. What about in sand?

I got a tank of the 98 stuff in bundaberg. After I put it in I read their book and it said post 86 (mine is 86) Ran like a dog and pinged under any load even with timing about 6-7. To be fair it was pinging a bit before hand (40 deg day with a/c on) but was really bad on that stuff and my mileage wa...
