Ok thanks for all the input, I will keep it in mind when I get into the shed later this week to do the EJ conversion. At this stage as the RX gets used on the beach and tows the pop top I want the biggest radiator I can get and I want to keep my A/C. The plan thus far is to use the Liberty radiator ...

You won't fit the Liberty radiator with the Liberty fans. The engine bay is not long enough. Vortex is a different story. I would suggest talking to an engineer in your area about fitting the EJ radiator and having to modify the radiator support panel. It is nothing to do with the crumple zone on a...

Thanks for the info.

So if you use the L series then you can put aftermarket fans on the rear and keep your a/c ?

Just seems like a waste not to use the liberty setup which seems so nice .

Fitting Liberty Radiator and Factory Fans to an L series

I have been looking around at options for when I do the EJ conversion into my L series. I have found a few guys who have used the factory L series radiators and had the inlet / outlet pipes changed and then fitted electric fans etc. I have found a few guys who have used the Liberty Radiator with aft...

There is not really any such thing as an approved version and anyone who tells you there is in QLD is having a lend of you. There are kits which have been approved once fitted and inspected but no kit can be approved before it is inspected. In QLD you must get approval prior to fitting and then an i...

Was watching WRC the other day and thought it was very cool how they have benches inside their trucks down each side so when they load the Rally Cars they drive on the benches. This looked like a great setup as it means you can have good benches and you can put spares under the car between the bench...

EJ 22's as stated are usually a great engine. I have over 500 000 km on one of mine and it has been flogged every day of its life. I can happily say winding it backwards or forwards etc will do no damage at all. The 22 is not an interference engine and I would love to know how they think you bent a ...

ah ok well that makes more sense although after reading that article I can't believe someone was stupid enough to even consider welding a wheel stud on a hub yet alone doing it badly and taking a picture of it and putting it on the internet. http://offroadingsubarus.com/images/subaru_ea_4to6stud_new...

two extra holes drilled and studs fitted to the stock hubs. No need to start with blanks, the original 4 studs remain untouched, just the two extras make up the total of 6. I have no doubt that what I am about to ask is a stupid question and I am probably missing the point. Anyway a Subaru is 4 x 1...

If you have stuffed the 3 retaining bolt heads then the only option you have is to drill teh heads off or use an easy out.

Cool, one less thing to sort. Will the carbon cannister marry up as well ? It looks to be the same sort of size etc.

Cheers for the feedback guys that was exactly what I was looking for. Looks like I don't need to modify the engine mounts which is good so I will just machine some wedges. I guess I will prep the engine first which should save a heap of time. Having never pulled an engine from an L series before I g...

Yeah I might do the Liberty stuff before hand. I can't see an EJ 22 loom taking more than an hour or two so by the time I do teh change over I am guessing around 4 hrs maybe 5 if I have to pull the RX dash to get in there as well. Not sure how much loving the engine mounts will need and also how muc...

EJ 22 into an L Series in a weekend ?

Hi Guys, Well I have an 85 RX Turbo which I want to upgrade to an EJ 22. I have a complete 92 Liberty, adapter, flywheel and clutch and of course an RX Sedan. I have read a lot on here and a few other forums and I can't see any reason why I would not be able to do the upgrade in a weekend, do you th...

Hi all I've been trying to contact Subi Wan about a 2inch lift kit for my outback. I have tried a P.M. and Email but if someone here doesn't mind asking them to check their messages or relay a message to me please! Thanks in advance. Good luck with that, I tried for many months and in the end got w...
