hahaha that just reminded me of something else - its probably best not to use a shifter - but if you can get a big enough one in there, you'd get more torque onto it compared to a little open end 10mm spanner. However if it has jsut as slippery of a grip, the greater torque will simply mean a greate...

ok, bit of an update. I got the car up on the hoist again yesterday arvo, and checked the tightness of everything i thought was related - except one thing mentioned in a moment. Crossmembers, radius rods, pitch rods, swaybars - the lot. Nothing was loose at all. Swaybar link bushes do look to be qui...

you can get 'flare nut' spanners, which have like 3/4 of the circle with a gap just wide enough to slip over the brake line. They are the tool made specifically for the job - maybe about $5-20 from repco. Otherwise what i have found, is that instead of starting on the bolt in the direction of un-doi...

I think you would need something - atleast the outer bit of a driveshaft bolted to the wheel - because to my understanding the wheel bearing sits and runs on this shaft. Also, i've heard that the suspension is really set up for the AWD driveline, and if you go to change it to rear, it drives insanel...

update, Talked to dave - jack sparrow - last night about the circlips, and the flatblade screwdriver trick. Tried it out this morning and it worked! it was a bit of a mix between using a right angle pick and a thin flat blade screwdriver then a bit of levering :P After that there was another circlip...

another thing i thought of recently.. was drive shafts... I know the boots are worn and nearly split in my current ones. Is it possible that a worn CV shaft would be able to make a similar clunk noise? which would make far more sence in relation to the 4 consecutive clunks rather than suspension mov...

pulling apart gearbox - quick question
hey, me again  Just pulling apart a MY wagon awd gearbox, and i got stuck pulling the casing apart. Not sure if there is a circlip somewhere i have to get off, or if there is something else im missing? Ie having to pull apart shift linkages? I found one circlip in the extension housing.. but i...

ahh ok, sounds pretty easy! I just wasnt sure if it was halfway down the shaft in a hard to reach place. I'll probably just buy a replacement one, cant be that expensive...... right? Edit: removed a comment - didnt read dave's post properly the first time  Cheers for the quick reply -Adam

Bush in steering column?
Does anybody know of there being some kind of bush in the steering column? Car is a leone RX. Problem is that the steering wheel seems to shake around slightly as though the steering shaft isnt holding in the steering column properly - ie, chewed out bush... Question is, can anyone confirm this, and...

had a look under the car again today, Engine and gearbox crossmembers are both definately tight! The sway bar bushes is an interesting suggestion, because i noticed mine today - on the ends where it joins to the links - which seem quite worn out, and hard - however still there. Might replace them as...

engine crossmember was never undone :P but i'll check it next time im under the car. And brett, it can happen when lightly lifting off and putting down the accelerator while cruising, but it usually needs a bit of a harder suspension movement to make the noise, but it sounds like you're on the right...

Clunking noise on takeoff/braking
Hey, I recently pulled out my gearbox and put it back in with a new clutch and new oil... It was running fine for a few weeks, and now, all of a sudden there is a loud clunk/thud coming through the floor around the driver and passenger side footwell. A loud audible clunk which can be felt by your fe...

I have another party interested in the lib internals gearbox, who would like the gearbox sooner than later. Just letting you know incase the offer disappears on you :) And not sure about the MY gearboxes. All i know is the lib internals gearbox has the larger output stub axles, and is also a longer ...

ok, just went out and measured both gearboxes next to eachother. Lib internals EA82 gearbox is 770mm long compared to 700mm long for the L series EA82 awd gearbox i had lying around (which i assume is the typical EA82 box size...) But basically its about 70mm longer due to the extension housing. Als...

dunno if its any help at all... but ive got 3.9 liberty internals in an EA82 gearbox, with liberty dual range extension housing. I'm asking $500 for it. It might be a cheaper option to pull apart and put into your blown gearboxes (being the 3.9 lib internals) - depending on gearbox prices. Cheers -A...
