replacing hub stub axle

Hi all, What's the proper way of getting a hub stub axle into a rear bearing (i.e. the short solid shaft that goes through the bearing then the hub)? I've just had the bearing replaced and I'm about to put the trailing arm back on. It's a very tight fit and the way I got it out was by swinging a big...

Thanks for the replies. It's a 91 L-series 4WD wagon. Hopefully the mechanic has nothing to do with the process but if I get really stuck with the bearings I'll drop the whole arm off at the local wrencher. Thanks for the advice guys. I managed to pop the cover off the latch assembly through the grille, then got under the car and used a small mirror to see what I had to pull. Got it open by hooking the latch with a large allen key. Now to fit that new cable!

Cheers,
Jono

Popping the bonnet on an L wagon when the cable's broken?

Does anyone know how to release the bonnet on an L wagon when the release cable is broken? I can access and move the lever at the front with a wooden ruler, but it seems I need to actually release the catch first. To complicate things slightly I've got a big bullbar on it from which I've removed the...
