I think they're illegal for use on a car - not sure about a trailer.

My local parts store stock them, they're not that expensive but I can't think of the brand just off the top of my head.

I've snatched from the rear RHS on several occasions with no ill effects. Be gentle though.

The front's ok too if you use both points in unison.

I can't find that photo anymore :(

Does this help? This was before I had all the body work done.

That's good advice.

As far as the expense of using a adapter plate, my line of reasoning is that you'll be going to a lot of bother to get the drivetrain sorted in any way, fabricating an apapter plate isn't a big deal.

You want the transfer case as close to the midpoint of the vehicle as possible don't you?

I've got an idea - rather than dodgee up an AWD box to be rear-wheel-drive, why not use a rear-wheel-drive box? Using an adptor plate you could make anything fit.

You could use a Hilux Surf auto box, then use twin Toyota transfter cases. That way your transfer case would be in the perfect spot.

I think you would be throwing money away if you were going to convert to an EJ box and not converting the engine as well.

A manual EA82 AWD conversion will fulfill your needs. Once you've got the box the rest of the parts are easy to come by.

I completely agree with Stinky. The reason we drive Subarus is because they don't have unweildy ladder-frame chassis, dinosaur live axles and the traffic manners of Mel Gibson during Hanuka. That said, this isn't what Midnight wants to know or what this thread's about; it's an interesting theoretica...

I reckon if you look at the basic points you put the lift kit on (front crossmember, gearbox crossmember, rear crossmember) you could knock something up to fit up to those points. Most 4x4 chassis attach to the body at only 6 or 8 points, so this is not a bad place to start. I reckon Stinky's got a ...

290,000 kms is ok for the body but the engine will be getting a little bit tired by now. Good service history is important, but how the car has been driven is more important.

If you think you're getting a good deal look at things like head gaskets, timing belts and cooling system.

The Hummer put me off for a few reasons: 1, it's made in the USA (the G is made in Austria); 2, it's very very wide. Actually the USMC are phasing out their HMMWV in favour of the IFAV (that's Marine speak for G-wagen). There is also a good chance the Australian Defence Force will be replacing their...
