I have already fitted KYB's but the Gabriels are near new and I would like to sell them if I can find out what they were 'supposed' to be fitted to. They are definitely shorter than the KYB's as I do remember putting them side by side.

Gabriel shocks ?

Hi, I have got a pair of Gabriel Red Ryder rear shocks that I took off the 83 wagon because they were too short and clunked on bump, or rebound (cant remember which!). They have 2 numbers on them "733637" and "C3022". I am trying to find out what they are meant to fit but cant find these numbers any...

It had symptoms of a blown head gasket so I pulled it down. The under side of 1 of the bores has corroded near the gasket surface so that it is only about 4mm thick instead of about 8mm. I expect that this area would overheat and boil the coolant and eventually lead to the gasket failure.

thanks for the help. It was the combo switch and a replacement from the wreckers in Ballina fixed it.

Yeah, low beam is okay, but all are off on high beam.

I dont have the car with me. My son is driving it home from QLD to WA and he asked for advice.

It may be to do with volume vs exposed surface area as you suggest. What about trying an experiment with 3 identical containers, 2 open topped with differing volumes of fluid and 1 sealed. Place them in the same loacation and test every couple of days. ???????

Yes but im running an aftermarket ECU, an EMS Stinger 4, i know its working correctly and can adjust the on and off temps using my laptop.

Thanks for the help guys I feel a bit more confident about it not overheating now.

Thanks for that, it was in correctly.

Does anyone know the temperature range EJs should run at?

Im between 88 and 93 Celcius at idle with one fan running. I thought this is too high because the thermostat is rated at 77 C.

What way should the thermostat sit in an ej22? Thinking it might be back to front.

I had pretty aggresive intermittent surging as well. Turned out to be the plug leads werent pushed on tight enough. They needed a huge amount of force to get them to click on. Also replaced the plugs.

QFM Brake Pads

I just ordered a set of brake pads for my MY made by a company called QFM. They make pads for all subi models in 5 different compounds. The first 3 are probably the only acceptable though as the others are for competition use and wouldnt heat up enough for effectives use unless circuit racing. I ord...
