If the engine won't run at all - ie no signs of life - it's unlikely to be a head gasket failure. Is there spark? fuel ? Could it simply be a loose plug in the wiring harness ?

oil pressure sender - That's the one at the front, on top of the block in the middle. There are two water temp sensors on the water pipe that bolts on to the top of the block on the right hand side at the rear of the pipe - one for ECU, one for the temp gauge. I've pm'd you as well.

That's interesting - thanks.

I've had a reply over on USMB to the effect that the stuff I've got is a direct equivalent, so that's good.

Threebond 1215 equivalent?

Hi all, Putting the spare EJ20T back together after head gasket failure. The manual says to use Threebond 1215 or equivalent on the forward camshaft caps and the rocker cover. I've got Permatex Ultragrey RTV silicone. It's oxygen sensor safe and looks like it should be OK to use. Does anyone know if...

No cylinders are at TDC on an EA82 with the timing marks aligned - you match up the middle of the three marks III on the flywheel with the pointer - that puts all cylinders at half-stroke. Then line up the timing marks - put on the LH {inner} belt - tension it; one full clockwise rotation, line up ...

I'm sure that I'm missing the point of the question, but can't you actually physically see which wires go to which sensors ? What specifically do you need to know?

I'm not keen on the concept either, but I do know, for example, that it was Mazda's recommendation for the transaxle in the early manual FWD 323's.

I think they did decide this was a bad idea and issue a revision on it though.
