Take the oil drain plug out, mark a tooth with liquid paper and count teeth. From memory it's either 37 or 39

If you search the forums, there are a number of threads on the subject to confirm the numbers.

Try shorting out the connector on the main loom. If your reverse lights come on, then all is good on the car side and the gearbox switch or wiring is at fault. If your reverse lights don't come on when you short the connector, you have a problem in your loom/fuse/reverse lights somewhere. To test th...

I'd have a close look at fuel pump or partially blocked pickup. Probably best to check fuel delivery pressure under acceleration if you've got a gauge. I was crewing for a WRX in the ARC and they had a similar problem. Turned to be a piece of what looked like indicator lens in the fuel pickup pipe. ...

EA82 drive shaft, CV and bearing

Finally got the roll pins out of the gearbox end and have knocked out the right drive shaft from the hub. Unexpectedly, the inner front wheel bearing came out with the shaft. doh! Since this my first shaft replacement, not sure if that is supposed to happen. So now I need to know if the the bearing ...

Sometimes people not in the know put the Cups in 180degress out, the pin will go in but not all the way through meaning that to remove the pin it must be punched out the opposite way to which it was incorrectly belted in. The catch is you have to guess which way it needs to be bashed out. That woul...

EA82 gearbox roll pin help

Ok, so I got one roll pin out OK and the CV off one side of the gear box (piece of cake with the engine out) The other roll pin seems to be made of super strong unobtanium and is wedged tight. I've belted it, drilled it, sworn at it in English, French, German and a special made up language I've got ...

The producers should stick photos of themselves to the "What were they thinking?" board.

OMFG!

The test track / reasonably priced shit box track was embarrassing. Please, please, please do not show that in the UK.

D/R to AWD RX conversion - EA82T

To use these gearboxes in an Aus spec L RX Turbo you have to modify the shift mechanisms stay or steady bar because the lower rear of the AWD transmission is deeper and longer than the part time box to house the center differential . The upper rear of the box where the tailshaft slides in is dimens...

And secondly, a factory H6 gen 3 outback can be converted to dual range manual. The only problem with the latter is that in high spec cars with stability control I doubt the VDC or ABS will work without the auto present. I've been considering doing a manual H6 Outback for a while but didn't think o...

>3 Do the brakes need upgrading for a ej22? Damn right they do, I'd seriously consider 5 stud but at a minimum RX rear discs. Not sure the RX discs would make much difference, as most of the braking power is directed at the front anyhow. It's also worth keeping in mind that drums can often have a m...
