The weakened roof would collapse in a rollover and probably kill all four occupants. :p

I can't see why you couldn't pre-order one of the new model Foresters if you're sure that's the model you want. Plonk down a deposit at a Subaru dealership and collect the car when you come back to Australia in March.

Given that the mirror still needs to retain the ability to adjust for differnt height drivers, I don't think glueing the mirror into one fixed position is the answer I'm looking for. While I'm hoping there's a fix available to retighten the ball joint, I'm not adverse to the idea of buying another m...

Brumby's internal rear-view mirror is loose

HELP! The Brumby's internal rear view mirror has recently become loose. The mirror's ball joint doesn't hold a position, so the mirror flops down when driving along. I've unscrewed the mirror's arm from the ceiling and had a gander at the assembly, but there aren't any visible screws to tighten. Th...

If it is a torn diff hanger bush, Boxer Service Pty Ltd, (172 South Pine Road, Brendale QLD, ph: 07 3205 4495, fax: 07 3881 3319) sell nolathane replacement bushes for $22 each.

What gearing you planning on running with 31" rubber? Standard Brumby gearing would suck big time.

Aqua-planing in the wet on 10.5's would be an interesting experience too.

I went through this thinking a few months ago and I ended up deciding that I still wanted to drive a ute. Then came the question as to whether I wanted to go off-roading, or use it as a road ute only. I decided to keep off-roading so that lead me down the path of dual range gearbox. (for a while tho...

From Wheels magazine: The current Forester is one of few compact SUVs to offer a dual-range gearbox for greater off-road flexibility, yet in a nod to compact SUVs predominantly urban role, the new model has discarded this useful feature. http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/News/The+new+face+of+Forester.html...

... if you don't have a body lift, your tyres will rub.

Then again, depending upon your 14" wheel's offset, you might rub anyway.

190cm?

A Liberty would be OK so long as you like to sleep with your legs bent. :)

Brumby on Outback platform Mmmm, now that would be a sweet ute! It'd need at have at least a 500kg tray capacity. Be great if it was available in two spec levels: 1. ag-quip: Option of 2.5 petrol or 2.5 turbo diesel engines, vinyl floors, dual range AWD, high ground clearance, front and rear LSD's,...

Nah, All sedans came in single range AWD, all wagons had dual range in manual transmissions. Cheers AP  What you said isn't correct. The donor vehicle I've got for my Brumby upgrade is a Gen 1 GX Rallye sedan. EJ22 with dual range AWD gearbox. It looks similar to Jan's Liberty (main diffe...

With regard to insurance and rego, I believe you can go a maximum of 2" body lift and 2" spring lift (ie: total of 4") without needing an engineer's certificate. King Springs only offer around a 30mm lift on their raised springs for Outbacks as any more adversely affects the CV angles. This was the ...
