Chubby, Thanks for driving out to help me today. The engine was still over-fuelling on the way home so I'll have a good look at it tomorrow and sort out a fix for it. Yarney, that's a great shot of the hill climb. Next time find a bigger tree to hide behind. That dead twig you used on Saturday was a...

On my Outback I fitted KYB struts and King springs which are around 20% heavier than OEM. Ride became firmer and I feel are more comfortable (the OEM springs are too soft). My vehicle didn't come with the self levelling suspension.

Re: Scorpion wheels.

I have always liked the Scorpion wheels on the Subaru's. Does anyone know if these are still made / available? I saw a set once painted gun metal grey on a Silver L series wagon - it looked real neat. Wouldn't mind doing something like this for my wagon ........................ maybe :? I've got Sc...

Don't forget to take a digital camera. Springfield got around 30mm rain yesterday so the tracks should still be lovely and wet. :)

What will Curlie break this time?

Simpson Crossing

I'm looking at taking the Brumby for a trip across the Simpson at the end of June. If anyone has done the Simpson in a Subaru, I'd appreciate it a lot if you could give me some top tips to help make my crossing as trouble free as possible. I was thinking of taking 40 litres of fuel in jerry cans, bu...

Just do it.
Asking for forgiveness is much less complicated compared to asking for permission.

I just talked to some one from there and they seiad to keep an eye on there web site as some one else maybe re starting the company in a month or two. Fingers crossed, I hope Subaru products continue to be available. Is there any truth in the rumour that the new business will be called BYB Xtreme S...

:?: Maybe the info is wrong, but I did a search through old posts and read that to get an EJ22 conversion done properly it would cost somewhere between $5,000 - $8,000 (probably more as I would be paying someone to do the job for me). How much do you think stroking an EA81 would cost? A thought that...

Stroking an EA81

I can't afford an EJ22 engine swap so I'm thinking of stroking the EA81 (which is stock and has done over 300,000km). I figured that stroking would be a cheaper option and still give an acceptable performance upgrade to my Brumby. Is there anyone in Brisbane who does this sort of work as a drive in ...

Told you I had never done this before. Yep, I've probably got my names mixed up. The bit that's bent is a length of round rod around 18mm diameter and aprox 18" long that goes from under the footwell to join onto the lower steering arm. It's held to the vehicle by two bolts at the front and on...

Bent con rod

I bent my front left con rod last weekend - I went a bit too hard to get up a badly rutted track. I found a MY sportswagon with straight rods, but I've never changed one before. Is it simply a bolt off / bolt on job, or is their something special I need to do? Looks like a 17mm and 19mm socket job, ...

Welding a Brumby rear diff

I'm having difficulty finding a secondhand clutch LSD for my rear diff and new ones are priced at $990 each, which is a little too expensive for my wallet. So I'm wondering what the pro's and con's are with welding the rear diff? I use my Brumby as a daily driver and go offroad every second weekend....

Raid Megan's tupperware cupboard. Cut and superglue some old plastic containers into the shape you're after then strengthen it with fibreglass (or kevlar if you want it to be extra strong). Brett, what do you have planned with regard to your Brumby's bucket seats? I'm asking because I'm wanting to i...

215/70R15 is around 15mm taller and will fit okay. Spare might be a bit tight in the well, but if you stow it partially deflated (10 psi) it should fit. Obviously you'll need to carry a compressor to reinflate the spare if you need to use it. 225/70R15 is around 30mm taller and may rub on front mudf...
