Engine is 1989 model EA81, and has done 330,000km.

New waterpump went in today. It's got a couple of leaky engine seals which will be fixed sometime in August, but otherwise it's a reliable engine and still going strong.

I'm simply not sure what's the most appropriate oil for it.

I may be wrong, but I thought Subaru engines didn't tolerate ethanol blended fuel very well. Engine pinging and reduced power.

I'm wondering about which oil is the best for use in an EA81. At the moment my engine has some oil in it but I have no idea what it is (synthetic / mineral / semi-synthetic / viscosity).

Maybe you can use a pre-made Toyota 80 series LandCruiser wiring loom? IPF and Pirahna both market this loom, and then you could easily run higher wattage bulbs.
