bad luck mate. I'm sure the brumby will live.. mine has lived in 4 states just in the time i've owned it and been revived from wrecking once by me, who knows about it's prior history. I'd say most of our vehicles are similar in that way. looks like a freaky thing to have happen - luck of the draw. L...

Looks fantastic mate. Quite scary with just the bullbar, makes the undercarriage look like it's ready to run you down.

What are all the flick switches for in front of the gear stick ?

just got back. GREAT trip.

suby went awesome. Nothing fixes a CV squeak faster than 100km of dirt. daily.

Pics and write-up soon. And EJ22Ute, the DeGrey river crossing looked just like that still. Good fun.

Off to unpack

how sad that i signed into the forums this morning to make a post about road rage and there's already one here.. it's a sad state. I've just done 5000km in the last 2 weeks, with maybe one idiot who pulled back in a bit close after a highway overtake. No other mishaps. I get back to 'big smoke' gera...

Thanks mate, probably going that way too. We'll be sure to ask in advance.

Straight up to broome via shay gap, hanging there for a bit, then on to the NPs en route to exmouth.

offer a reply that answers his question... :D Fang - i dug deep into my hard drive and fired up IE6 to test your theory but it seemed to work ok for me. I've left the lappy on auto-update for a while, so 4MUFF's note about updates may help if you haven't done so in a bit. A quick google shows that a...

Cooloothin, I don't know what you were on mate, but there must be some method in your madness... At 100 km/h the L series with 3.7 ratio diffs should rev at about 3100 rpm with standard wheels. so with my rough bit of maths assuming it's just a direct ratio from the gearbox.. i got about 3300rpm fo...

what revs would you be looking at 100kmh in L series with these tyres? Cheers AP 100km/h = 100,000m /hr .. /60 = 1666.66666666666666667 m / min 26" x 2.54 = 66.04 x 3.141592653589793 = 2.07m rolling distance.. so ~ 800 rpm for the wheel/tyre.. times whatever the gear ratio is, which i have no idea....

did anybody see that a fool recently severely injured a passenger by throwing a rock onto a highway. Subarino - i have no idea but i would have assumed that wagon windows and hatchie windows were about the same size... ie for a hatch its just that the rear seats / doors are missing. by your despair ...

they're freaks. its that simple. or it is with the ones that win consistently. lance and miguel both, not normal men. There was a doco on miguel's physiology a long while back. The rest of us would be clinically dead at his resting heart-beat and breathing rate.

I'll pay 'castle nut' cuz that's kinda what it looks like.. the biggest nut right in the middle of the hub. And I'll pay Matatak's guess at worn splines because that's happened before :) edit: not a constant squeak.. only occurs in the act of applying or removing pressure from the engine in a really...

Just to tidy up this thread.. The mech had it up on the hoist with a lad hitting the pedal for him, watching the rig underneath move and react to the G's.. and noticed that the big nut on the end of the axle with the big split pin (note the technical terms) on Front left, was loose enough that the s...

leave approval finally came through. looks like we're off in a week's time. Suby engine mount problem appears to be sorted. Maybe. broome, karajini, exmouth, millstream, coral bay.. should be interesting, especially with my lack of ability to fix anything mechanical :) wish us luck... the research h...

you'll have 3.5mm more room around your tyre than Matatak, but I'd say that means you'll still have some work to do...
