Thanks for the responses. As far as the battery goes it is definitely not the issue as I have removed it completely from the vehicle and am running the jumper leads from the other car and connecting them directly to the terminals so I have in effect replaced the battery with the one in the other car...

Help, My Brumby Won't Start

I have had it running as recently as a month ago without any dramas but I have tried to get it going again today with no success. It is as if the battery is flat because the starter is engaging but is very sluggish and is only able to turn the engine a few degrees before it runs out of grunt. I am a...

I have an auto choke carby from a '92 Brumby that was fully rebuilt about two years ago. Only problem is it is in Darwin. You could probably expect to pay at least $20-$30 in post to get it down south.

I'm not sure about the setup on the forester but on the brumby you don't remove the spline from the box. The gearbox has splined axle stubs that protrude from the box and the CV shafts slide onto these. The shafts are held on with a roll pin that goes through the CV shaft and the axle stub. You will...

good to hear that u can go ahead with it now . do the MVR want u to put dices all around , Yeah, I included four wheel disc brakes on the submission as I was planning on doing the crossbred performance upgrade anyway. I'll use the front brakes off of the WRX front cut, I just need to get some rear ...

The fun begins

I finally got the go ahead from the Motor Vehicle Registry for the WRX conversion into my brumby. Woohoo!! The only condition for the conversion to be approved is that the chassis rail modification is done by a certified welder. Its now time to buy some bits. I've got my uncle in Sydney who also hap...

I just picked up a MY power steering rack from the wreckers up here in Darwin for $95. I was planning on putting a seal kit through it before putting it into the brumby but upon refering to my trusty gregory's manual it tells me that I need special tools to pull them apart and it should be done by a...

I'm definitely interested. Is it possible to get a photo of the bracket in position with a gearbox. I am still trying to get my head around exactly how it fits/sits.

Cheers

Not quite sure exactly what you are talking about but I have an EA81T sitting here unused. I bought it with the intention of rebuilding it to go into my brumby but decided to go down the EJ20G road instead. PM me if your interested. If you don't want it I will probably sell it off either in parts or...

Thanks for that GOD I did a search on the forum but obviously didn't look hard enough. I'd like nothing more than to go straight out and buy the engine AndrewT but unfortunately budget constraints and a baby on the way mean I can't afford any suprises once I've started. Once I'm sure that I can get ...

EJ20t and EA81 Engine Weights

Does anyone happen to know off the top of their head or at least know where to find out the weights of the ej20t and ea81 engines. I need the details for my modification approval form for the brumby but have looked around on the net and can't find what I'm after. I did find something that listed the...

I have spoken with the Motor Vehicle Registry here in the NT and so long as I submit an application for modification approval prior to starting and any welding to the chassis is completed by a ticketed welder and certified there shouldn't be any problem modifying the chassis to fit an ej20t. So long...

It may have taken me a while but I saw the light in the end. I'm in the process of filling in the paperwork for vehicle modification approval with the Motor Vehicle Registry. I spoke to someone there today and they didn't seem to think that cutting the chassis rails to fit in the ej20t would be an i...

Thanks for that. I still might take you up on the offer in the near future but a few developments over the last couple of days mean I may be scratching ea81T and L 5 speed conversion for a full wrx conversion. I should know sometime in the next fortnight. When I started weighing up the costs involve...

Are there any legal implications with regard to cutting into the chassis rails to fit an ej20t? I would have thought rego inspectors wouldn't be to impressed with the idea. As much as I would love to have a turbo engine, I have to be able to register the car once it is in.

The brumby has a two inch lift kit in it. The box is a part time 4wd 5 speed out of an old L series.

I've been keeping a close eye on the above mentioned thread and am pretty confident with the general procedure. I am just not sure that the 5 speed box that I have will fit in the transmission tunnell with the vacume actuator on side of it. I'm hoping someone else has done it otherwise I may have to...

Vacume Actuator on 5 speed

Does anyone know how I would go installing a 5 speed box out of a 1985 DL wagon with the push-button activated 4wd selector into a brumby? It only clicked today that the vacume actuator on the gearbox may not fit in the tunnell of the brumby. If it isn't going to fit would it be possible to replace ...
