Spotted - red Vortex on Fed Hwy

Spotted a red vortex on the Federal Hwy travelling towards Canberra on Wed afternoon. Was passing a truck at the time. They really stand out - quite a recognisable car (to those of us that know what we're looking at). Great to see one out there still getting used.

We've had 5 subi's now and the forester is by far the best. I must admit the Skoda Yeti has sparked my interest, too. A tdi Yeti would be a good car, IMO.

The car i just drove was a 2L Liberty. It did feel underpowered, but drove nicely and is def a good buy at $6,800. Tomorrow I'm test driving a very different car. Forester XT 03 with about 212K on the clock. I think these have a rather fancy engine, is that so? He's after 10K The early XTs had a de...

That's my old wagon. Does it still have all the good gear on it? (I notice from the pics in the For Sale thread the custom front and rear bars are gone - rear with spare wheel and jerry can holders): It had dual battery set up, JDM AWD 'box, extra low ratio kit in the t'case, underbody bash plates, ...

Thanks Jerryd, you bumped my memory for another... 26 Feb 2012- a seemingly (only saw it from a distance) intact brumby + friends in a paddock at Gundaroo, 'out the back' of Cork St (the main street), between x-streets Lot St and Harp St, Gundaroo, NSW (near ACT). See attached pic. May be worth a v...

We put some Michelin's on the XT Forester not long ago. Too new to have formed an opinion on them at this stage, but they seem to be quiet and wet weather grip appears OK. They replaced the Bridgestone Potenza's, which were a very good tyre. We got about 55k kms from them - much better than the Yoko...

12l/100km is what I'd expect around town. Our 2.5T Forester XT does approx that driving around Sydney - mainly short trips. It goes down to approx 8 - 9l/100km on the highway.

The car gets driven quite gently most of the time.

We've had our MY06 XT from new, and love it. From the MY06 model, the Forester XT got the WRX drivetrain, rather than a de-tuned version. Subaru saw this as a cost-cutting measure, as many owners were upgrading their foresters to WRX standards anyway, and it meant they didn't have to spend time / mo...

I've been fortunate enough to have seen allot of this country, either through work trips or on holidays with the family. Being a member of the ADF means we have been posted to many locations, and in each we try and discover the area whilst we're there. On top of my extensive list of places still to ...

BTW - hope you guys are all OK up there with the floods. TV was reporting this morning that Gympie is expecting 20m flood peak. Will you go under?

Our thoughts are with all those experiencing the floods.

We've had a number of personalised plates when we lived in Darwin - as they were quite cheap up there.

On my '86 RX Turbo I had: 'RX'.

Wish I had kept one of those to put with the rest of my collection.......... (The guy I sold the car to asked if I wanted one, but silly me declined.)

I built a similar cage for my 6' x 4' trailer a few years back. Sounds similar - where the posts slide into existing post holes in each corner. Mesh sides welded to the uprights give its structural stability. Its done a couple of trips in and out of Darwin and all up and down the eastern sea-board a...

I purchased my Rola Racks through one of those mobile fitting mobs when we bought the Forester. Turned out to be alot cheaper than the "Subaru" racks, which I'm pretty sure are just Rola items with Subaru stickers. The other reason I wanted the aftermarket ones was that the style the Foreter takes a...

Chip / exhaust for XT Forester?

Due to the way the lease works on the wife's MY06 XT Foz, we need to spend some excess cash that has built up in the account before the lease ends at the end of the year - or we'll be hit with FBT. We'll be getting new tyres soon and most likely a new battery before the end of the year; but that won...

Trust me, as an ex-XR8 owner, you will miss the power. I replaced it with the 325 BMW, which is no slug, but the XR8 was just in another league. Our MY06 Forester XT has more power than we really need, but I love the driving plesure it delivers. If you can stretch the budget (both initial cost and s...

I haven't had time to read all the responses on this issue, but I'll offer my 2 cents worth anyway....... Our MY06 Foz XT, with the 169kw 2.5T, has had no problem towing anything I've attached to it. We towed a fairly heavy (though not as heavy as the camper trailers you are talking about here) trai...
