I took the factory steel rims off of my brothers 82 I believe it is toyota truck. I then had them drilled to match the subaru pattern at a professional shop. If I was to do it again I would have done it myself. The holes they drilled weren't even that close but everything works. I use the factory to...

2 possible situations - Your oil pump could be worn out. - Your engine could be worn out and have excessive clearances. Probably best to start by replacing the oilpump. I haven't done one on a subaru before but I imagine they're pretty cheap. I know they're mounted on the outside of the engine which...

The idea behind water wetter is to make the coolant in your coolant system accept and release heat easier. I've heard of it but up here in the Canadian prairies we have no use for it. Our climate goes from -50 to +35 every year. It would just be a hassle trying to get it out every fall.

First of all STOP driving it! That looks crushed pretty bad. If the header tore at the mounting flange you could be melting other components in your engine bay. If your exhaust can't freely exit the system you could damage your engine. Its not going to happen immediately but driving it too much will...

I definately can't afford shipping on the rims and tires but I could probably buy the rest of the stuff. The rims and tires would be to expensive to ship half way around the world. I'm not sure how much shipping would be on the rest of the stuff but if you would sell everything but the rims and tire...

I'm actually just about to do a 6 bolt swap and I could use a set that are already done. Would you sell just the hubs? I'm up in Canada but if your willing to ship I'll pay the shipping. I guess I should mention my cars an 86 or 87. It should be the same style hubs as your 90. These ran fine on the ...

SJR Lift sells the adapters you need. Not sure about the process myself though.

no I don't want to resort to wheel spacers. I'm mainly wondering if these wheels will fit with the offset they have once there are larger tires on them.

Bolt pattern wise the plan right now is to drill the 4x140 bolt pattern into the toyota rims instead of redrilling the hubs to the toyota pattern.

15x6" rims with 4.75" backspacing?

I just picked up a set of toyota rims for my 1986 Subaru GL but now I'm a little worried they don't have the proper offset to fit my car. I've got a 4" SJR lift to put on the car and I plan to run a 28" tire. What do you guys think? Anyone running something like this? http://img31.imageshack.us/img3...

Just an update. I'm working 10-13 hours a day all week and then working saturdays landscaping. I figure I would save the time designing a lift kit and spend more time building stuff like tube bumpers and doing the lug conversions. I went ahead and ordered a 4" lift kit and last weekend I stayed at t...

I found one set of 15" pug rims and the guy wanted $500 for them. It was the only set of 15" rims I could find. My friend has an 1989 Toyota 4x4 with aftermarket tires on it in really good shape. They aren't special tires or anything but they're different from stock. Fairly nice tread pattern on the...

I'm finding rims harder and harder to find. Should any machine shop be able to change the bolt pattern? What bolt pattern is usually used so I can let a machine shop know and what do they usually charge? Its not a common thing up here in Canada but if I give them a bolt pattern to start with it woul...

Using stock spare tire rims

I'm still on the hunt for a set of 15" rims for my 1986 GL. The spare wheel is a 15" rim. I was wondering if theres any reason I can't use this rim? I know its quite a bit skinnier than the other options but I was hoping to go with a narrow super swamper tire anyway. Any issues with balancing these ...

I just looked at another picture. This one is the spacer on their 6" kit. It definately looks like there is an offset. It looks like the round tube is cut at an angle on each end to create the offset.

It seems apparent in the right spacer.

This is the kit I was planning to base my lift off of for any wondering:

The strut towers don't appear to be offset. They are rotated slightly but not offset like the newer subaru kits are.

With my budget I can afford about $300 for the lift. I'm thinking it will run me between $100-$200 in materials with the modified exhaust. I'm going to try and modify the exhaust myself if I can. The racing team I'm a member on has a TIG welder that I'm pretty good at using. All the parts will proba...

Custom 4" Lift for 1986 GL?

I live in Canada where shipping everything is a fortune and we have a low dollar. On top of that I'm a student with access to a shop on campus. I was looking at the kit provided by SJRLift and it looks fairly simple. Is there anything I need to watch for when lifting my subaru? The back seems fairly...
