OK, thanks for your input. My thinking is in that the clock and the cig lighter socket may be on same end of curcuit so that the solar charger keeps the clock from draining the battery, as you ask, the cig lighter does not have power in off position. The solar unit may just save the dash top from an...

My 88 touring wagon has 188,000 (so a lot more to go before....) the last 44,000 in last 18 months. The original owner must have been old and slow, very clean and no kids or grandchildren, not gone on dirt or 4WD and happy with the original subaru tape radio !

I have got a solar auto battery charger 12V 100mA that is claimed to charge a car battery by plugging into the cigarette or accessory power socket. If I may add comment. I have seen this exact situation on a turbo converted Volvo where the fellow worked through the night to 'simply' bypass the turbo with a section of RHS and plate at each end to remove the turbo out of the equation , register the car and then throw turbo back in . It ran a litt...

If one is allowed to endorse or recommend a product from previous experience I have seen a CHEMIcal WELDing product work in a few situations sometimes seemingly permanent and even seen it at bunnings on their shelves at less than fifteen dollars. If it buys some time before you redo gaskets and clea...

Brake swap between 84 and 88 info ?

Hello all, I have a neighbour with a 1984 4WD wagon that has been well looked after. He called in admiring my 1988 Touring Wagon. We swapped for a drive of each. He is mighty impressed with the braking efficiency of mine. So, too the question, is will brake components such as the calipers and master...

Third time lucky !

I had reservations about the pilot episode and number 2, as I did with the first Top Gear Australia magazine, not buying more. The third episode shown last night- I enjoyed it. OK, thank you for the suggestions. It does it with bumps only, so something loose may be the answer. I will give it some thought and consideration when I can get time to look at things. Thankyou again
