I'm in the aftermarket world at the moment, but you can still see the dealership technician coming out in me because I always want to do the jobs properly exactly how they should be done, I'm kind of fussy... I like all cars, its just that sometimes you get instructed to not do things that need doin...

you have my sympathy.... i get upset when I have to sell cars :( if it were up to me all cars should be kept and kept in good condition!

if thats the sort of car you love then you should get another one. I branched out into different cars after my second one's death and regretted it :(

career changes?

hey, just after some thoughts and ideas. technically i'm no longer a subaru owner either, I sold the L series and got a toyota dyna instead... swore I'd get rid of those hydraulic lash adjusters and look at what I ended up with (toyota 4y with hla's) anyway... I currently hold a cert III in automoti...

nobody seems to want my L series wagon, am I priced out of normality at $1100 ono with rego until january, a RWC supplied and the offer to drop it off to sydney (parramatta) area? Its got 352,000km on it, somewhat noisy lifters, 1st gear syncro is a little crunchy and my driveshafts are a little noi...

try and explain it is a limit, ie a maximum, and you don't have to travel AT the limit to all the bloody idiots driving on the highways!!

people get dumber every time you think about it. and the police will book you for whatever they like if they are told by their bosses they need revenue.

You should patent it and market it.
I second that!! You have to get rich somehow!! (how else will you afford those crazy modified EJ engines and tricky performance bits for your old subarus?)

valve clearances/hydraulic lash adjusters

hey My car makes a wonderful ticking noise that it shouldn't, being an ea82 and having HLA's (aren't they a wonderful thing) now this has got me to thinking... when they tick, there is obviously too much clearance there, so the valve is not opening as far as it should or exactly when it should.... t...

the seal is actually broken in two pieces. Going to sort something out this week assuming I don't die in the meantime. I wouldn't have thought that the coffee was too tight/fine but I will be paranoid from now on.

the worst thing is, I have heaps of fresh coffee on hand, no instant coffee, and I don't even own a perculator!!

Was thinking about having a go at turkish coffee brewed on the stove, but I don't have quite the right gear for that (I need a briki)

coffee problems

Hey all you fellow coffee drinkers.... its the end of the world at my place, the coffee machine blew up!! I seem to have broken the seal above the group handle.... now this happened when trying to pour an espresso, rather messy actually. The coffee I was using was freshly ground, now I'm worried tha...

none of that looks overly fresh to me. I'd wash it, check the oil level every day and keep driving it. check again in a week for leakage.

speculate the mechanic didn't put enough oil in when he serviced it. I'm bad for slightly overfilling engines with oil :(

wasn't it fashionable to hate him and call him a paedophile these days? all of a sudden everybody is devastated and the radio was insistant on slaughtering him properly by playing his songs non stop all bloody day... I didn't mind the music. Thought he was rather messed up though. Pretty common when...

Probably should have done an engineering trade. I'm an Automotive Mechanic. I will perhaps make some phone calls in the coming week. I'm pretty sure a refresher course in maths/chemistry/physics would do me the world of good though :) UAI was the biggest load of crap I reckon, to get into a visual a...

getting a better uai

hey I did my hsc in 2004, and I have to say, got a pretty lousy uai and some not too flash marks to go with it. Largely due to me not wanting to be there and preferring to work instead of go to school. I managed to get an apprenticeship after school, which I've completed without any dramas, and I'm ...

I'd stay with 2" all the way, straight through with 2" tip, sound nicer than a canon imho. when you take it for a rego check the mechanic won't laugh behind your back at your canon either... each to their own though.
