Go to Bummings and grap one of those pump up garden sprayer things(not the hosed ones - the one I have is a 2 litre one) and just use washing detergent - about 3 capfuls in 2 litres(I use Morning Fresh...;)). I use warm to hot water and put the detergent in AFTER the water as it will foam up - you w...

I have the 2" going to a 2.5" muffler and I am very happy with it. Goes a helluva lot better than the old system. I found the bit of pipe that runs adjacent to the G/B was crushed to half of its diameter which was really giving me poo performance. When the new system went in(cat bac only though) it ...

Hootchie cord is even well known in the Navy - we use it for lashing down odds and sods(mainly the gunnery types!!) and weaving our gun belts(similar to a carpenters tool belt but for our marlin spikes, boom knives and minesweep pliers). Hootchie cord was also good for converting the SLR(FAL) to ful...

Yepp they are bloody tight little buggers...it is the same to get them off too - best to tighten a smidge first then loosen. I just did the rears in the L and nearly did a pooper valve. I then tackles a mini first motion shaft nut - 200ft/lb!! - had 2 mates sitting on my bench with the box underneat...

No it was a manual box(5sp D/R) and no it isnt easy to overfill it - these guys did though. Took me over an hour just to get the box filled with 1.8 litres of fluid...then I got the poo poo's and loosened off the drain nut...presto!! I am glad they are fixing the problem but it wasnt until I really ...

Bugger!!!!

Think I found out why the gearbox was playing up a bit. Did the full service thing with new fluids and bits and pieces...came to draining the box and knowing that it holds 1.8 litres of fluid, I used the smaller 2.5 litre drop pan. Thank heavens I was having a bit of a lie down under the car when I ...

Thats a good review Matt. You'll be happy to know that you're not the first to be dissapointed with the Gabes. KYB is the only off-the-shelf brand worth buying for older Subes and is recommended by most board members. Yepp ditto - the original struts on the L series are KYB off the factory floor - ...

don't put it in 4wd on bitumen/hard surfaces, it'll do that, and wreck your diff/gears. The 4wd is locked front/back - which is bloody good for off-road Welcome to the board and subarus mate. Concur - unless you are in Canberra and hit some black ice. I usually put my L Series in 4WD on a long stra...

You could put it on LPG and possibly save a lot of other hassle if you can get a gas system to work on the turbo. No pump needed coz fuel is under preure from tank, no return lines or surge tank, just a gas line, I am still to sort mine out Ignition is a question. What sort of dizzy is in the turbo ...

The negatives of 14" tyres on-road are far less than the negative of changing all four wheels every time you go on or off-road. I am hearing you - I hate changing them around!!! My driveway is like a mineshaft and I do it in the cul de sac...I have to back the mini UP the driveway just to get him i...

Agreed here. I got all the bits to rebuild my EA82 before I found out about the EJ conversion. Now I'm looking at the EJ option in the next year or so. The EA is getting old and I've found the problem of pulling threads while trying to put the correct torque on them. Not fun. If that's the case, sa...

I just grabbed some 14" rats and after reading this, I am not too sure now...may stick with the 13's for just road use now and the 14" for offroad only(Toyo 710 treads on them now...). I have put new rubber on the 13's(yesterday)in the shape of old school 205/60R13 Y352 Yokohama treads with the rais...

They dont come out do they - and you know when you have gone too far....then you have to hit it one more time!;)

Well I just removed the rod change assembly from the mini and it is leaning up against the side of the garage - maybe the rust will make it drop out?

whatever it is - let me know too as I have a fairly moderate leak in mine...

Dont do what I did with the rod change in a mini and use one too small...the drift is still there as we speak due to it getting jammed in the hole!!!

Yokohama Y352

I used the 352's a long time ago on a skyline(1982 hatch - before they were fashionable!!) but have found out they are doing them in a 13 inch: 205/60R13 86H Y352 205 60 13 86H Will these fit under the guards of the old L series using the speedy rims? I do have the RX leone rims too (those 5 spoke t...
