it's a new car!

Well after getting sick of the old outback with it's cracked gaskets and overheating I decided to go look at a new car. I test drove the 2011 WRX and STI as well as a 2010 Legacy(Liberty) GT ( 2011 legs haven't been released yet ). The WRX was really fun, but I feel in this day and age, any car with...

ya it's a '97 DOHC ej25 with 160k miles on it ... I paid $2k for it so I don't want to spend the money to get the head / head gasket done ... I haven't seen any external leaking. I also don't have any decent tools, nor do I know the EJ engines well enough that I'd want to try and strip it down mysel...

I'm pretty sure I've blown a head gasket ... I overheat intermittantly, the filler bottle gets overfilled from pressure ... the fluid gets a little oily, etc etc. anything else I should check for before assuming the worst? any tips on keeping it running for as long as possible ... my commute is only...

The highlight of the day was driving right through the middle of a makeshift middle east village complete with mosque, where they obviously do live ammunition training for middle east urban combat. The houses were made from shipping containers with windows cut in and clad with think styrofoam painte...

4x4'ing Fort Hood, Texas.

Went up to Fort Hood today to Christen a mate's new jeep. You may have heard of Fort Hood recently... . The property ajoining to the barracks is all Army owned and used for live fire training, everything from pistols, grenades, to artillery. Also you can 4x4 all through it.... they just ask you nice...

they can be made to fit, but it's not easy, and they end up a bit higher than the brumby seats which can be a problem if you're tall.

could be, Shane ( long time subaru club member ) is driving it at the moment, he's got a bike so would make sense for it to be carrying one. He lives up that way too.

remove engine, replace plugs, attach engine.

use itanium 100,000km plugs and you'll probably never have to do it again.

My new wheels

After test driving a bunch of outbacks and legacies of the late 90's vintage I decided to look a bit newer. Just picked up a '03 WRX wagon with just on 60,000 miles ( 100,000 km ) in showroom condition ... Only thing wrong with it is it only has two pedals, but once the auto decides to find a gear i...

advice on '96 outback test drive wanted.

Just test drove a '96 Outback ( auto, 2.5L ). It's got 130,000 miles ( 200,000km ) on it. Super clean in the engine bay and had what looked like new leads going to the coil packs. CVs/boots looked good all round. interior was pretty clean. Heaps of power, I test drove a '02 legacy just before and it...

that looks sweet! I wish we had a decent selection of early subarus here in Austin TX. I've been looking for a couple of months and nothing decent around. They all seem to be up your way.

Seattle seems to be the caboolture of the USA ... all the old school subies go there to die.

nope, I think they show a weekly wrap-up on late night TV, but it's like a week of the show wrapped up into about an hour.

You can always download it from torrent and other semi-legal ways.
