Yeah I've defently learnt never buy a cheap old car off a hi-fi salesman. And atleast I know how costly body damage can be now. After doin some research last night, I realise the guy's basically gettin the leone for free coz $1800 - $2000 seems to be the goin price for one of these in top nick but I...

See the problem is I don't have $2000 straight up, If I did I would have got a decent car to start with. I need a car asap coz I'm starting a apprenticeship next year and part of what makes this deal so attractive is I can pay it off and have the car now. If I don't take this then I'd probably end u...

Well it looks like I got myself outta the sh1t, it turns out this mechanic I took the car to (who's been the family mechanic for quite some time) is after a leone to rally. So his offered to trade it for $500 on an 89 mitsubishi magna wagon . Its gunna cost me $2000 after trade with 10 months rego a...

Well heres hoping it hasn't gone further then that panel. There was some rust in the boot which I fixed up, apparently the seals were gone (fixed now) and there was water sitting in there. Putting disks on the back sounds like a great idea(depending on what they're worth), it'll save me gettin the d...

Well I took the car to a mechanic to get a quote so I can't give you any pics until I get it back. Besides there isn't alot of rust that is visible until I rub it back, just a small beed below the side back window and a patch near the door. When I say a bit of paint & bog I actually meen I'll rub it...

I agree this guy was a bit of a wanker but he wasn't trying to scam more money out of me. He told me to get rid of thing and not to try and fix it, so thats not gunna make him any money. Suby Wan Kenobi: I don't have the money for another car at the moment, thats why a brought an $800 car which I th...

yeah I think those little thing would be the first thing any mechanic would check. But the interior light was goin a little bit far, it just hangs down a little bit. Anyway I don't have another $90 to try my chances with another bloke but on the up side, atleast I know exactly what needs to be done....

If I wanted the work done buy a body repair place it would cost me a good $2000+ but I managed to find a new door for $60 so I think I'll just put that on m...

yeah like i said the mechanic reckons the whole panel needs replacing which I dont have the tools for, but I'm gunna rub it back tommorow and check it out. Hopfully a bit of bog and paint will fix that. But I couldn't do the steering (you can turn the wheels with hands when its on the lift) or the b...

Yeah I didn't expect it to be a real good car, but I really didn't think I'd to have to spend so much on it. I never released a dinted door would be such a big problem. I guess my question is, would an 82 leone be worth restoring or would i be spending more then the car's worth? I can probably fix t...

Dud Leone, Need advice
G'day, I found a 1982 Leone for $800. Thought it was an alright deal even though it had some obvoius body damage, so i brought it. But when I took it for a Roadworthy last week and the mechanic hit me with a massive list of repairs to do and he said "If I was you mate I wouldn't bother fixing it, I'...
