Re: New members - Read first post & say G'day

G'day Robert, from Newcastle, NSW. Pretty new here, myself. Lots of good information and help. I picked up my Brumby recently, as a "Too good to pass up" type purchase. Keeping an eye on the market, it seems that Brumbies are becoming more sought after of late. There are a few good examples on the m...

Re: NSW Blue slip

Lol. I only got to drive her to and from the mechanic.
Haven't actually made it to RTA, yet.
Probably Monday, at this stage. Battle with the Government Corporation zombies and get some plates, then I will blow the cobwebs out of her. 8-)

Re: NSW Blue slip

Thanks Bennie. Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of when I got her home. Apart from the rodents, dust and dings, she was in reasonable condition for 397K km vehicle. The interior has benefited from a little trick that I have learnt from YouTube that involves sun damaged plastics and a heat gun. W...

Re: NSW Blue slip

Well "Rats Nest" passed the blue slip inspection with flying colours. A final pre-inspection inspection this morning had me scrounging for globes. 🤦 I had checked that lights, horn, wipers, indicators etc all worked, but had not spotted that the side lights were both blown. A rummage through my moto...

Re: 2021 Outback "safety" features?

I had a similar experience with Hyundai iload. Traction control is woefully super sensitive and a pita. Had to hit a button to turn it off at every engine start.

NSW Blue slip

After a few weeks of working on "Rat Nest" Brumby, she is finally booked in to get Blue slip inspection. She has been a farm Brumby for the last ten years and not registered for use on the public roads. NSW, Australia, requires an annual safety inspection for registration of road going vehicles, col...

Re: Brumby load area with tailgate down

Just measured mine.
From back of cab to edge of tailgate, in down position, is 2075mm.
Max width you will fit between the rear uprights is 1195mm.

Re: Brumby Bonnet pivots

Yes. OEM hex head bolt is worn where bonnet arm rotated.
I have used a socket head bolt, mainly because that's what I had. Have filled the socket with grease, along with the actual moving parts, to prevent future issues of corrosion.

Brumby Bonnet pivots

After seeing a post where someone’s bonnet was stuck in open position, due to seized pivot pins, I decided to service mine. Plenum chamber cover was already off, so perfect time. Although still functional, they were corroded and in need of some love. Scrounging through my “Good shit” box of nuts and...

Re: Does my Brumby look big in this?

All bolted up. Came up alright, IMO. Small interface between bottom lip of tailgate and plastic step, as she opens, but it just pushes plastic down as it opens. Hides the monstrous beam well, which was the aim of the whole exercise. https://i.ibb.co/zmgBFWZ/FD7-B0-A05-5-EB8-4020-B5-A2-22-B7-D52-A4-D...

https://ibb.co/7Yh46Yp https://ibb.co/sjYdzFh https://ibb.co/rQ3pLKF https://ibb.co/sy05877 Someone though that there was a need to beef up the rear of the tray. Now I have to hide it. Re: Does my Brumby look big in this?

Spent the day cutting and fitting and cutting and trimming and fitting and cutting some more. Lol Making pieces of different cars fit together nicely is not straight forward. I will take more pics to show progress. You may be correct about the tray being hammered. I will show pics of beam. It is in ...

Does my Brumby look big in this?

I suspect that Rats Nest Brumby may have been rear ended at some stage or something similar prompted previous owner to modify the rear end. The edge of the tray, where the tailgate hinges bolt up, has been cut away and a large heavy square tube has been put in place. The tube is flanged and bolts in...

Ah. Nice. I never thought of colour matching.
I have perused the spray paints in Repco and S Cheap, in the past, trying to source colours for bikes.
I will definitely do as you say. Cheers.

Maple Beige 748

So Rat Nest Brumby has been a farm car for last ten years. She’s no beauty contest winner, but is rust free., After a bit of research, I can only get Maple beige 748 (Subaru paint code) in two pack paint. I was hoping to get just a few rattle cans from Supercheap. Anyone found anything else or suppl...

Bully tub liner

Hey all. Doing the tidy up of the rats nest farm Brumby and have decided to try Bully Liner rubber coating in the Ute tub. http://www.bullyliner.com.au All reviews on the net seem to give it a thumbs up. I'm wondering if anyone in our community has used it and can give feedback or tips for best resu...
