There are a few different EJ alternators but from your description it sounds like you have a gen 2 type. The large white wire is the sensing wire, it just goes to the battery(just connect it straight to the post on the alternator). The other wire(black/white) is the charge light wire. There is no ig...

Check the timing belt tensioner. The later swing tensioners are known to lose tension and rattle up and down with belt harmonics. The sound is similiar to a big end knock. Water pump bearing failure can also give a similiar sound but it is usually constant. The car would not be driveable if you had ...

It's very similiar to the std GX pinout. I have given a copy of this to Vincentvega.

Any specific issues?

If it has external stubs(from a gen 1 Legacy turbo) then it will fit the L series fine.

My mate has Forester seats in his L(all Lib, Imp and Foz seats interchange). He drilled off the Foz rails(spot welded on I think) and nut and bolted the L rails to the seats. Quite straightforward with a bit of skill and commonsense. He works at an engineering shop so there would have been nothing d...
the speed sensor is not a signal generater,it is a negative triggering reed switch which is actuated by a magnet on the speedometer bell, your just guessing at this stage, there is no 12v to this reed switch ........
Care to clear this up for us SCOOOBIDOOO?

I have had the innards of an L speed sensor sitting here in front of me for the last 3 years or so (lone time between clean ups). It consists of 1 photo interrupter, 1 transistor, 7 resistors and one each of power, signal and zenner diodes. I've even got the schematic traced out somewhere. I was in...

Can you just post what connections you want to identify specifically? Without knowing how the wiring was stripped from the harness it is hard to guage what you need to do to get it prepared for use. Does it have the Ignition and Fuel Pump relay still wired in? Any info you can give is good and will ...

That pinout is for an Air flow metered car. Unless yours is quad cam this should be the right one.

Keep in mind that this is looking at the ecu pins NOT the plug itself. You have to look into the back of the plugs.

I think this is what you are after, as I said there are a few different pinouts so please check that it correlates first. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h219/AL_RS/96EJ20NAMan2002.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h219/AL_RS/96EJ20NAMan2005.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h219/AL_RS/96E...

Here's how I have done it this time. There are plenty of ways to do parrallel rails but basically you just delete the regulator and put a T piece in both the inlet and return lines. The pics aren't brilliant. You can see the two t pieces here. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h219/AL_RS/jzx83/parts...

There are half a dozen 3 plug ecu's as well so you need to have specific model type to get the right diagram. And yes, they all look the same and have completely different pinouts. I have had to just trace the wiring on some Gen 2 cars I have converted for this reason. The reason for changing them i...

jzk25 is a full on wiring nerd on these things. He would know a way around the issues but they would be quite involved. Swapping the loom is really not a big job and could easily be done in a weekend by you and a mate. I've never been called a nerd before. Auto and manual ecu's are the same i...
