A couple of years ago Kelvin from here sold me one - and I remotely remember him saying it came from a Liberty. It now lives on my first L series. I wanted to put one on the second L Series for when it gets an LSD...

You dont see many L Series getting around with them on.

Getting "painted on" pinstripes off Speedy Wheels

I am not a fan of the "painted on" pinstripe on Speedy wheels. I have removed these before on my previous wheels. However these new wheels are really testing my patience. I have tried grafitti remover (for both acrylic and enamel), turps, methlyated spirits.. even brake fluid! After several sittings...

Yes agreed there. Not sure if you can just run a tacho wire to the appropriate "in" plug on the touring wagon dash loom?

I still had an amount of custom wiring to do - we have wired the "choke warning" light to the radiator fan so I know when it's on. There is two wires for that too.

The dash loom is separate Bennie - I have no personal experience in swapping them though.

When my dash board came out - so did the dash loom ;)

LOL - you have my sympathy neirbo. I just went through this in my DL L Series. You can change the loom - or change the dash plugs (which I did). You have to change the wiring on 4 plugs - it can get very confusing. I have been through it two times in my two L Series. I don't regret doing it as it lo...

I recently nutted this out. If you have Number 35 in the below picture from the donor (Full Time 4WD) box, you should not have to modify your shifter rod. If you are using Number 35 from a Part time 4WD box they you need to make the modification. I can't remember exacts - but it is a case of trial a...

In my L series I mounted mine in the sunglasses holder area to the bottom right side of the steering wheel. This has the big advantage of not having the coiled Mic lead stretched across the steering wheel when you are trying to drive/steer. I mounted it on the righthand side of the dash cluster and...

Thanks for the reply fellas. I think you are right about the alternator. The engine is getting replaced soon anyways (alternator and all). The plot thickens though - when I dimmed the dashlights (had to plug in the dimmer coz the dash is in a million pieces still), it did nothing. The dash stays bri...

Thanks Bennie

Yeah - its a bit strange. It will go up - but it bounces while it does it. Then it will bounce on the way down too. Bit disappointed the coil didnt fix it.

Putting those dashes in DL's is not fun. Why Subaru just couldnt make one dash loom I don't know

A slight update - I changed the coil for GT40 coil I had lying about (was working fine with a tacho on another car).

The problem with the tacho is still evident - any further suggestions?

Going to leave the GT40 coil in there - it started a lot better with it.

L Series Tacho Jumping

A friend of mine and me went through the most painful of tasks again today - installing a tacho dash into a DL L Series. (My mate says "you are not allowed to buy anymore f***ing L Series without tachos") Everything is working fine - except for a jumping tacho. Its fine when its idling - as soon as ...
