I ended up having my local speed shop fab up one for me so I could finish the install on my Outback. That and the pitch rod needed to be fab'd as well. Considering AU was my only option for the kit, I can't complain much. Still loving my Subie! :D http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1GA8Cs8PtGg/ShQvdRp7sII/AAAAAA...

Looks like a great time. Thanks for sharing.

What part of West Virginia were you in? Just watched an interesting program on mountaintop removal coal mining in southern W. VA last night.

Might want to check the lift kit link on the main page or the BYB lift kits thread at the top of this one! I installed a 2" lift kit with a set of king springs in my 05 Outback. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_1GA8Cs8PtGg/SfxaC8J77qI/AAAAAAAAEUI/EUjGWA9v4O8/s800/P4195239.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1...

Truth in 24 - FREE right now on iTunes.

Absolutely fantastic documentary of the Audi racing team at LeMans in 2008. Currently available in the free section of iTunes.

Download it free while you can.

Certainly does look better now! What exactly was the issue with the steering coupler? Seems very strange! Steering coupler was too long. Not sure if there was a difference between right hand and left hand drive Outbacks, but there was no way to make it fit without cutting it down and welding it bac...

More pics and details.

Finally getting a few minutes to post up some additional pics. One of four rear carrier spacers. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1GA8Cs8PtGg/See2AvPunLI/AAAAAAAAEQI/_U0AOsCkpVo/s800/P4165225.JPG The installation starts with a trolley jack under the rear carrier. The car is looking good. Bigger tyres now maybe?
Thanks!

I just put a new set of Yokohama Geolandar AT/S on today. 215/65/16. They are bit bigger than stock, but leave me enough room between the tire and the Rally Armor mud flaps so snow and slush won't get jammed up in there too often.

Thanks

I did slide the original one off the top and then off the bottom. It came out with no problem. The instructions call for removing the rubber section and replace it with the extension. Two problems I had. The holes on the extension piece didn't line up with the holes on the u-joints and once the whol...

Rubber coupler had to be split in half

Got the rubber mid-section removed and drilled out the holes in the upper and lower u-joint sections of the coupler. Fitting it back in and it's about 1/4" too long. Tried lowering the front carrier. I may be able to tap the bottom section further down onto the spline, but I don't want to wreck it a...

Question on steering coupler for lift kit

90% done with installing my BYB 2" lift but have a question for Dave, Brett or anyone else who can help? Instructions say to remove the rubber coupler and replace with extension. It appears as though the coupler needs to be cut apart in order to do this. Is this right? Any help is appreciated. Thank...

Lightbar relo

As you all know by now, the lighting on my Subie has changed many times. Well, today at a family function a relative backed into my car and cracked a section of grill that subsequently made my light mount unacceptably shaky. Back to the drawing board and I pulled out the light bar I had tested out o...

Lift kit question

I have my 2" lift kit (thanks Dave!) ready to go in the garage, but have been strapped for time to get it in. (05 OBW) Any problem with putting in the strut tops one weekend, driving it for a week and then putting in the rest of the blocks and steering coupler? I realize the alignment will probably ...

Lift kit installation instructions???

Anyone have a copy of the install instructions for the 2" lift kit for MY04+ Outbacks? I have both boxes of parts in my garage with what appears to be everything I need, less instructions. I think Dave is on holiday as I've not been able to reach him for a while. If anyone has a copy, I'd appreciate...

Depends on what you mean by off roading...

There are a limited number of sources for pre-MY05 subies, mostly Imprezas and Outbacks, but some Fozzies, though a lot of it is geared towards the rally enthusiasts. Got my front and rear skid plates from Paul Ecklund at Primitive Racing. Paul ran the Alcan 5000 Winter Rally in a Fozzie this year s...

IT Business Process Manager for a biotech company. My team fixes the things that are broken and tries to simplify the things that are more complex than they need to be. Try hard to get away from doing things a certain way because "That's the way we've always done it!"
