Hey Guys, I have a 1988 L series wagon with a rebuilt EA82 engine, head has cracked so she is running hot now, when it was rebuilt was top and bottom end so the short motor is good. Has two good tires, body is a bit rough. Free to a good home!! A six pack would be appreciated though :) Located in De...

Rodger that. We have already forgotten about the front seal, it doesnt leak, i thought it would be good just to do it while the gearbox is out, and easy to get to. Will replace the rear seal and be done with it! Cheers for the quick response and pics guys. Very helpful!

Replacing L series Gear Box Oil Seals

Hey all, The auto to manual transfer is going well. Turns out the auto had a 3.7 rear diff, same as manual, which made life very easy. Quick question. Going to replace the oil seals on the manual L series 5 speed 4WD Gear Box. I can see the rear seal and that seems easy enough to lever out with a sc...

Definately will not be missing the 3 speed auto. I think it redefines gutless. Thanks for all the info guys. Wil probably put some stuff up for sale/giveaway in the next while from various L series. If your looking for bits we have two compelete cars - minus the manual transmission etc!!!

Thanks for that guys. Will count the teeth and see how we go. Hoping the drive shafts dont need to be swapped to fit the new diff. I suspect the ratios will not be what we require knowing our luck!! Will be an entertaining time no doubt!!

Auto/Manual Rear Diff

OK so a mate of mine has an EA82 L series 1988 model. 3 speed auto transmission with electronic 4WD engagement. The transmission has exploded on him. But the engine is great. We have gone out and aquired and old 1991 EA82 L series with a blown head gasket, unregistered for $200. 5 Speed manual, gear...

Engine Cleaning

Alright, Got another question. Engine Cleaning. My new engine has a reasonable amount of gummy oil and power steering fluid on it (the power steering resivoir leaked). So i would like to get it nice and clean before i put it in to the beast, this will also help keep all my work clean as well. What i...

Cheers for the info guys, I will take some pics of what i do and put them up for you. Im thinking of going tankless, with a simple oil soak foam at the intake for lubrication, and an oil catch on the outlet with a blow off valve. In terms of the engine, yes their is a bit of a budget, i would like t...

Alright i have to say that this forum is briliant and thank you, i was kinda overlooking the obvious and going for the worst case scenario with the diff, last night i pulled out a front wheel bearing on the other side, and lo and behold its well shagged out!!! Front end whirring noise....help....

Ok, Noticed a funny noise the other day comi9ng from the beast, this is what the symtoms are and what i have done, in my ignorance to try and fix them.... Symtoms.. KYB Suspension Cost/Recomendations

Alright, got a couple of questions on suspension. Recently finished uni, and drove the 1900km home in the suby with a full load, noticed when i got home the rear right side is sitting about 1 inch lower than the left when measured at the wheel arches, this combined with the very intresting handling ...

Alright, while doing a uni assingment on pressure etc. i have come up with a theory to explain this (bar head gasket), my theory is that if their is lower than atmospheric pressure build up under the rocker cover the small leak that i have in the rocker gasket would perhaps draw in moist air...which...

Oily Foam on Oil Cap and in Air Filter?!?!

Alright, I have been noticing a foamy build up on the underside of my oil cap over the past month, have cleaned it away and it seems to re form quite quickly, their is a small amount of water present (a few dops in the foam) as well. This was pointing towards a bit of a head gasket issue i thought, ...
