Thanks for the feed back. I didn't plan on bidding on this one as I am in Brisbane and the car is in Sydney. Just wanted an idea of what cars in this shape go for.

Keep em comming so much to think about I am sure there is heaps I need to know between now and the build starting.

Buying donor cars at auction?

Hello Ladies and Gents, I am looking for some feedback from those that have bought a wreck at auction. Any details would be good.... the process, good buys, nightmares etc. Pickles is pretty much all I have been looking at for a donor car for a EJ conversion. Any thoughts on what the car in the link...

Although I am in QLD I will be watching this thread with interest. Where you said the limmit allows turbo's do you mean you interpret the rules as saying that a EJ20T would technically be allowed but not a NA EJ25 without an engineers certificate? Mine is for a MY Brumby but the info is still releva...

Thanks for the replies gents keep them comming. Brumbyrunner as far as my limmited research sugests the SOHC ej25 came in the 00-04 Outback (wikipedia) but only the Outback Sport has the DR box.....? the 03 and later Foresters had ej25 engines with DR but am unsure if either models were SOHC or DOHC...

Ok Gents its time to start seriously looking for a donor car to steal all of the goodies from for my tired old Brumby. I'm in Brisbane and would love to know where the best place to find the donor car from. I've had a look at Pickles for a smashed car (will keep looking) has anyone bought from them ...

On first look it seems a much better starting base than the last one. Is there a older subaru around that hasnt had an engine bay coated in oil?
